When you activate online at publicmobile.ca, Step 4 — the Payment step — has two separate fields sitting near each other:

- Referral Code — for a 6-character code from an existing customer. This one is always available, and it always gives a new customer a one-time $10 account credit, applied within 72 hours of activation.
They are different programs with different fields, and they stack. When a real promo is running, you can enter a promo code and a referral code on the same activation and get both.
That distinction matters, because most pages ranking for “Public Mobile promo code” blur it — or take advantage of it.
The one code that always works
Promo codes come and go. The referral credit is the constant: any new customer who enters a referral code at activation gets $10, on any plan — from the $22 talk-and-text tier to the $50/150GB 5G plan (see current plans).

One warning for 2026: TELUS runs “Fast Switch” ads for Koodo inside the Public Mobile signup and login flow, and some people have clicked through and ended up activating on Koodo by mistake. Here is what Public Mobile has genuinely offered, so you can judge any claim you see elsewhere:

Two things worth noticing:
- The 2025 referral bonuses were not promo codes. There was nothing extra to type — you used a normal referral code during the window and the bonus attached automatically.
- As of July 13, 2026, no referral bonus is running. The standard $10 credit applies. When that changes, our current offer page gets updated — check it before you activate.
Why coupon-site “promo codes” are mostly fake
Search “public mobile promo code” and the results are coupon aggregators with titles like “50% Off July 2026” and “75% OFF”. Compare those claims to the table above and the problem is obvious. Three patterns to watch for:
- Invented amounts. CouponChief has listed a “$30 off” Public Mobile code. Public Mobile has never offered $30 off through a promo code. The largest credit a new customer has ever received is $25 total — during the 2025 bonus rounds, through the referral field, not the promo field.
- Expired codes presented as current. PMDATA10 keeps showing up on month-stamped coupon pages long after it ended on June 26, 2026.
- Referral codes relabelled as promo codes. Many listed “codes” are just six random characters — someone’s referral code. It will work, but only in the Referral Code field, and it’s worth $10 like every other referral code, not the inflated amount in the listing.

How to stack everything that’s real
- Check the current offer page to see whether a genuine promo code or referral bonus is live today.
- Go to Public Mobile — this link opens the plan page with the referral code on this page applied — and pick a plan.
- At Step 4 (Payment), confirm the Referral Code field is filled in. If a real promo code exists, type it in the separate Promo code field.
- Activate. The $10 referral credit lands within 72 hours; promo credits follow the promo’s own terms.

Existing customers earn 1 Public Point per 30 days for each active referral — which is why so many codes float around online. Since every code pays the new customer the same $10, the only things that matter are entering a code at all, in the right field, on the right website.
